Today I attended a Community Network board meeting during which much of our discussion was about how to sustain vital services in these challenging times. One board member told about attending an executive decision making advisory meeting about program funding. She advocated for an evidence-based effective community program that was not on the list. She shared her own stories about its effectiveness. After the meeting, a draft list of programs was sent to stakeholders and she saw that the program was still not on the list. She lent her voice again and sent an email questioning the decision. The persistence paid off. She received notice that the program would be preserved.
Each and every voice can make a difference. We must speak out and share our stories about the importance of our public health programs and services to our communities.
Let our decision makers hear from you.
Kim
