Elected Officials Scare You? Learn How to Work Effectively with Your Board of Health
Dear Public Health Professional:
We just learned of this important opportunity TOMORROW brought to you by our Washington State Department of Health and we wanted to share it with you. This session was scheduled to be offered at the 2009 Joint Conference on Health, but was postponed. Now you have the opportunity to learn about working with your local board of health in an effective way. What a great way to start your professional development in 2010!
Tricia Valasek, MPH, webinar presenter, is a project director for the National Association of Local Boards of Health (NALBOH) and will be discussing how you can effectively communicate with your Boards of Health and well as share the many resources the National Association of Local Boards of Health (NALBOH) has to offer. The session description is below:
Working with your Local Board of Health: Effective Strategies in Working with Policymakers
(Wednesday, January 6, 2010, 10:00 - 11:30 a.m.):
This webinar will provide participants with a background look into boards of health and their function within Washington State Statutory regulations. Participants will also learn key concepts on communicating effectively with board of health members, providing priority issues in appropriate methods, utilizing strategic resources to focus attention on community health issues, and getting board of health members more involved with advocacy. Finally, participants will learn about resources the National Association of Local Boards Of Health (NALBOH) has to offer and ways the NALBOH can help to strengthen relationships between communities and boards of health.
