Health Advocacy is an important mission of the Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE). National SOPHE and the CDC are co-sponsors of the new State Health Policy Institute (SHPI). The goal of SHPI is to increase advocacy efforts for chronic disease prevention and control in every state.
PNW SOPHE (the Pacific Northwest Chapter of the Society for Public Health Education) and national SOPHE are collaborating to present an informative and interactive workshop on health advocacy. This event will be of interest to professionals working the field of health education as well as students and others.
Sandra Ripley Distelhorst, HPPE, will serve as trainer and facilitator. Content will include: Current health legislation for Washington State; practical strategies for health advocacy; how to increase our effectiveness; and networking and resources.
