Formed in 1935, the Washington State Public Health Association is one of the nation’s oldest public health associations and one of the oldest affiliates of the American Public Health Association.
Newly re-envisioned in 2008 as the state’s leading advocacy voice for public health issues, WSPHA’s mission is to improve the health and safety of Washingtonians through leadership and advancement of public health. We strive to ensure a strong public health system and to support positive health outcomes for all Washington residents.
To achieve our purpose, WSPHA promotes:
Strong professionalism and training for the public health workforce,
Sustainable, long-term, flexible funding for public health, and,
Comprehensive policy solutions to better the health of all Washingtonians.
Our members include nurses, doctors, health officers and educators, students and public health professionals from around the State.
