Communicable Disease and Immunization Section Manager This position is the lead administrator for the Communicable Disease Epidemiology and Immunization Section. The Section conducts communicable disease surveillance and investigation activities, handles approximately 6,600 disease reports per year, oversees provision of state-supplied childhood vaccine to 340 private and public clinics, develops and provides information for health care providers and the public, and conducts emergency preparedness activities pertaining to disease outbreaks. The Section Manager position includes: fiscal responsibilities for a $3.8 million staff budget and $43 million in-kind vaccines; resource development; administrative oversight for grants and contracts; administrative oversight for approximately 30 staff; planning and development of Section services, programs and administrative systems; liaisons with external partners and stakeholders; and participation in Department and external activities related to Section responsibilities. The Special Assistant for Health Reform and Innovation is responsible for providing leadership, oversight and coordination for the Department’s efforts in health reform and innovation. S/he serves as the key advisor to executive leadership on developments, innovations and system analysis work, and is a member of the Senior Management Team.
