The Washington State Public Health Association (WSPHA) is currently seeking candidates for its Board of Directors. WSPHA is one of the longest standing affiliates of the American Public Health Association and has been promoting the public's health since 1935. The WSPHA Board of Directors governs the overall execution of the organization's mission. Principally, the Board manages organizational finances, sets long-term priorities for programs, and contributes to conference and other programmatic planning and implementation efforts. Additionally, the Board oversees the Managing Director, who is responsible for day-to-day management of WSPHA programs and operations. Together, the members of the Board contribute the educational, management, legal, financial and programmatic skills needed to ensure long-term organizational stability and ensure year-to-year excellence.

The Board of Directors has fiduciary and legal responsibilities for WSPHA as defined by Washington State. In addition, Board members shall:

  • Serve a 2-year term, with an option for re-nomination.
  • Attend regular Board meetings (6x/yr.).
  • Participate in email and in-person votes.
  • Participate on at least one Board committee.
  • Attend Legislative Education Day.
  • Attend the Annual Conference.
  • Seek sponsorship for the Annual Conference.
  • Participate on the Annual Conference Content Advisory Team (CAT). 
  • Make a personal contribution of time and/or financial, based on personal means/ability.

The Board is looking for experienced as well emerging leaders in public health to join our team.
